Project

The Family Carer project is part of the European Leonardo da Vinci Programme. The objective is to promote a Europe of knowledge through lifelong learning which will contribute to sustainable economic growth, through job creation and greater social cohesion. To this end, the programme aims to improve transparency and recognition of qualifications and skills including those acquired through non-formal education, through validation of life long learning. Family Carer projct involves:

- Identify and create a formal classification of transversal skills, specific to the type of persons cared for (elderly, disabled, those with special needs)

- Compare this schedule of skills with the different types of qualification courses, specific to each country, in order to provide additional training for family carers, hence facilitating them to increase their competencies with a view to future employability
- Compare the schedule of competencies with requirements identified in companies in the tertiary sector

- Inform family carers about the possibility of support for professional qualification and employability;
- At bench level:
Support carers in the recognition process of skills acquired informally (The family carer’s guide from France’s Department of Health and Social Security will be taken as the reference)
• Suggest training modules (complementary to the competencies acquired) and guidance towards relevant training organisations.
• Propose methods of inclusion within the European Qualification Framework and the corresponding mention in the carer’s employment card.

The outcome of the project will be available for use by the unemployed or those active in the field of care for the elderly and dependents.
